Elyptus’s Add a meal screen, with the description “Grilled chicken, a bowl of rice and some broccoli. I cooked it with a little olive oil.”
Elyptus’s review of that meal: grilled chicken, cooked rice, broccoli and olive oil, estimated at 545 calories, with 42 g protein, 58 g carbs and 16 g fat.

How it works

Three steps, a few seconds each.

  1. Describe it

Type what you ate, the way you'd tell a friend: “chicken, rice and some broccoli, cooked in a little olive oil”.

  2. Check the estimate

Elyptus shows what it understood, the calories and nutrients, and what it assumed. Change anything that's off.

  3. Save it

It joins your day. Today adds everything up, and the Journal keeps it.

What makes it different

Calorie counting, without the chores.

  • Words, not weights

Type what you ate in your own words. Add amounts if you know them, and Elyptus fills in the rest.

  • Every estimate is yours to change

Edit the totals, or correct it in words: “there was no oil”.

  • Honest about what it guessed

Each estimate lists what it recognised, what it assumed, and how sure it is.

  • No scores, no guilt

No streaks, no red numbers, no good or bad foods. Just what you ate.

  • UK label rules

Carbs, sugar, fibre and fat are counted the way UK and EU food labels count them.

  • Only the nutrients you want

Calories always, plus any of protein, carbs, sugar, fat, saturated fat and fibre.

Elyptus’s Today screen: 790 calories so far from two meals, with 34 g protein, 101 g carbs and 28 g fat, and the day’s meals listed below.

Today, Journal and Progress

See your day add up, and your weeks take shape.

Today adds up your meals as you go. The Journal keeps every day, and Progress shows calories and nutrients by week or month, against your own goals if you set any. Never a score.

Your meals are yours.

Questions

What people ask first.

Do I need to weigh my food?
No. A description is enough. If you know an amount, such as 200 g of rice, include it and the estimate uses it.
How accurate are the estimates?
They're estimates, and Elyptus says so. Each one shows what it assumed and how confident it is, and you can correct it.
Do I need an account?
Not for your first 20 meals. Sign in with Google to keep your journal across phones, and to subscribe.
Is it on iPhone?
Not yet. Elyptus is on Android first.
